Welcoming Our Latest Work Experience Student

At PWD Supplies, we believe supporting education goes beyond supplying schools with IT, furniture and technology. We’re passionate about investing in the next generation by giving local students the opportunity to gain real workplace experience.

This week, we were delighted to welcome Harry, a student from Wolgarston High School, for his work experience placement at our Head Office.

Throughout the week, Harry spent time with different departments, gaining an insight into how a modern business operates and discovering the many roles involved in supporting schools and businesses across the UK.

Learning the Fundamentals

Harry’s week began by learning about customer communication, including how our account managers use open and closed questions to understand customers’ needs and build positive relationships. He also learnt about the history of PWD Supplies and how the business has grown over the years.

Behind the Scenes of Marketing

A large part of Harry’s placement focused on marketing, where he discovered the variety of ways PWD connects with customers.

He learnt how email marketing, social media, exhibitions and strong branding all play a vital role in promoting the business. He also gained an understanding of how customer data helps keep communications accurate and effective, and how eye-catching graphics and engaging headlines can make marketing campaigns more successful.

Building Confidence

Later in the week, Harry joined our New Business team, where he listened to live customer conversations before creating his own call script and speaking with schools across England.

He experienced first-hand how our team builds relationships with schools, updates customer information and identifies future opportunities, growing in confidence as the week progressed.

Reflecting on his placement, Harry said:

“I’ve really enjoyed my week at PWD. I didn’t realise how much goes into running a business, and it was interesting learning about marketing, speaking to schools and seeing how all the different departments work together. Everyone made me feel really welcome, and I’ve learnt a lot about communication, teamwork and how businesses support schools. It’s been a brilliant experience.”

Supporting Local Schools

Work experience is about much more than observing. Throughout the week, Harry became part of the team, contributing to real business activities while developing communication, teamwork and workplace skills.

As a company that works closely with schools every day, we’re proud to support local education by providing meaningful work experience opportunities that help young people prepare for the future.

We’d like to thank Harry for all his hard work during the week and wish him every success for the future. We hope he leaves with a better understanding of the world of business—and some valuable skills he can take into the next stage of his education and career.

At PWD Supplies, supporting schools isn’t just about supplying products—it’s about supporting people too.
